"Catcher in the Rye"

STEP 1 J.D. Salinger uses repetition to develop the theme where Holden has a date with fissure in the novel Catcher in the rye whiskey. (Pg 131) In this quote, Holden is trying to explain to Sally what boys are like in boys school, telling her that all the boys are phonies and all they do is stick together in their dirty little cliques. In the quote, Holden retell the word stick together more than once, trying to pardon out what he is trying to say, showing the importance that all boys stick together like they are gay or something. This passage is important because it shows that Holden is lonesome, he cant fit in with the others and that he doesnt have a specific group that he belongs to. Holdens public figure is a mark of desperation, for he wishes to reject the entire parliamentary law around him.
