Debbies class
The path this article describes Debbies classroom is one that us teachers in Belize dream of. We wish our classrooms would shit ample dummy, whereby we can perplex many learning centers where students can go to and explore, to enhance their learning. Unfortunately, with the shape of students we have in our care, we have to be creative, and in my honoring of most classrooms in my school, the teachers have been innovative in using up the space in their classroom. Teachers have used spoiled cardboard boxes to make zig-zag boards which they use as separators, multi-functioning as bulletin boards, white boards etc. They use every the extra space to try to implement much of what they have researched, to bring up the standards of their classroom to what they have seen and read about.
Even though we have less space in our classrooms than Debbie does, we do our best to put up our students with most of what is needed to enhance their learning.
Debbies daily schedule
I am very much intrigued at what I read her schedule to be like. Her entire day is revolved nearly reading. She integrates all the lessons of the day with reading. That even includes Math, which most teachers segregate from reading. The plainly time teachers in my experience integrate reading and Math, is with line solving. She also allows for there to be participation by all the students in her classroom.
