Response Paper on The Story of an Hour

The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is a short boloney that keeps the reader wondering how its going to end the whole time. The short story starts let on with Mrs. Mallards babe Josephine and Mrs. Mallards married mans friend Richards coming to her house to break the news to Mrs. Mallard. They report that her husband has just died in a railroad track disaster and with Mrs. Mallard having a heart problem they argon trying to break it to her as easily as possible. Upon consultation the news Mrs. Mallard begins to weep and walks to her room where she sits down in her comfy armchair. What happens after this I did non expect at all. The Unexpectedness from both myself and other readers in general where in my opinion due to the fact of it being the beginning of the story and a shock for the reader.
Mrs. Mallard begins to feel some signifier of feeling possess her and she whispers from her lips the words of destitute, free, free (169). At beginning(a) I was confused by these words. Her husband had just died so why would she keep repeating these words of being free?
Then I continued to read and she talks to the highest degree her life being her own and her living her life for herself and not for anyone else. I feel that this is the major turning academic degree in the short story, a feeling of relief for the main caliber Mrs. Mallard. Finally her sister Josephine comes to the opening thinking her sister is incommode and making herself ill. Mrs. Mallard shouts back that she is not making herself ill, precisely instead she is imagining all of the wonderful days ahead of her.
When her sister comes into the room to cook her, She arose at length and opened the door to her sisters importunities.
