In this experiment, a resistive displacement transducer is use. The resistive displacement transducer is the simplest transducer which converts linear or angular displacements into a falsify in the tube. A change in the length or portion of the resistor brings out a change in the resistance. The resistive displacement transducer consists of a double ended unsoiled steel movable snapshot and a semiconductor blind resistor. The shaft is connected to a screw via gears. When the screw is rotated, shaft moves on its axis. There is a permanent magnetic field and, when the semiconductor resistor moves with the shaft, since the flux density varies, its resistance varies, as well. Rotating the screw, the resistance is changed.
In a general sense, a transducer is a device which converts energy from one form into another. Transducers may be class according to the energy that they give out, for instance, electrical, mechanical, thermal, electromagnetic, chemical and so on. Since it is a general concept, these classes of transducers have unhomogeneous types. All of these types could not be mentioned; however, electrical transducers would be represented in order to par the other types of electrical transducers with the one which was used in the experiment.
