History has a way of repeating itself. Although 90 two years apart, the 1919 and 2011 Revolutions of Egypt are quite similar merely different at the same time. It is difficult to understand this without a brief background explanation of both the changes; what instigated them, what the goals of the mutations were, and who was involved. After a historical foundation of both revolutions is laid, this essay entrust wait on at photos and statements from these events in gild to compare and contrast them. It will argue that the 1919 Revolution was a nationalist revolution plot of land the 2011 Revolution was a packs revolution.
In 1919, the revolutions enemy was the British. British had maintained colonial regularize over Egypt since 1882. Egyptians were dissatisfied with British rule and signs of a revolution began to spark when World War I was declared and the British announced it would enact martial law in Egypt.
For the people of Egypt, this meant the forced conscription of Egyptians, the state appropriation of cotton production, and the flavorous provision of supplies for British troops (Shakry, 2011). This caused economic and political crisis in Egypt which had the people outraged. Meanwhile during all of this, a nationalist caller of Egypt named the Wafd Party had been gaining support of the Egyptian people in order to establish independence from Britain. They had rallied for the independence of Egypt but had no victory with the British. They had gained not only the support of the rural citizens, but the urban ones as well. The partys leader, Saad Zaghlul, was also the revolutionary leader.
