A considerable amount of hydrogen may enter into the hermetic volume of the reactor building at nuclear power stations (NPSs) equipped with VVER reactors if design-based and beyond-design-based accidents occur there, which presents a hazard for the integrity of the hermetic containment. An emergency hydrogen remotion system employing the catalytic hydrogen recombiners is currently used to expire this phenomenon.
